    On Martha, she said to use a parchment under foil because of a reaction the foil causes? Can you explain? This was during the artichoke recipe.

    Wendy- You’re referring to my Nov. 25 2008 post about baked artichoke hearts. Yes, Lucinda, the editor presenting the dish, said to first cover it with parchment, then cover with foil. The reason is that foil could react with the artichoke hearts because of the acid content. When I made mine, I did not use parchment. I covered the dish with foil, but did not let the foil touch the food, so it wasn’t a concern. I think that only if you have your dish really full so that the foil could touch it would you need to use parchment first.

    Thank you for the smiles. I too try to craft using Martha as my inspiration. You brought back memories of my mishaps with Martha guiding me. It must be in the staff where crafts fail. Thats it, firing staff. LOL. I do have a few crafts that did turn out as discribed by Martha. I made the brown paper sack tree and the salt flour to make ghost and pumpkins. The ghost are a trick to make, but the pumpkins and tree turned out great. This craft is a good one to make with the children. Also for next Halloween try making the tootsie pop spiders with pipe cleaners. I handed these out to the trick or treaters. A big hit. Good luck to you and the rest of the Martha’s in your home.

    I just made the squeamish squash with rice dish and it came out very good. I think that the problems that you had were the instructions forgot to mention that with jasmine and other non Uncle Ben type rices you need to rinse and stir the rice in a bowl of water until the water* in the bowl is almost clear before draining it and using it in a dish. Also the amount of Squash listed is way too vague. One half squash could be 3/4lb to almost 2+ lbs? I used about 1.5 cups diced, but 1.75 cups would have been perfect. I cooked the mixture for 23min and put it covered on a back [cold burner to let it absorb the rest of the water. I used 2 1/4 cups of water. Next time I would adjust the water [less because of absorbing in the rinsing process. My rice was very soft but not quite mushy and the squash cubes did not break up….All for Now William Kinsley

    *4 to 6 rinses or water changes

    Thanks for posting. Did you add any seasoning though? Because even if it wasn’t mushy and gross, it still had absolutely not flavor. I used brown rice by the way. I agree it was far too much squash.

    I am trying to track down a recipe and I’m not sure where I saw it. I believe it was in the October 2009 issue of Everyday Food and thought I ripped out the page before recycling but cannot find it so I’m not sure where I saw it. It was a non-alcoholic punch recipe and had floating eyeballs. I wanted to try it out with the kids to see if it was worth making for our party next weekend. I found a punch eyeball recipe on but it’s not the one I remember.

    Do you have this issue to take a look any chance? I remember seeing the Halloween Blondies which I found on your site which is why I’m thinking it was the same issue.

    I don’t, sorry. I didn’t start my Martha project until the Nov. 2009 issue. The Halloween blondies were in this October’s issue of Everyday Food. I hope you find the recipe!

    Hi Jill. It’s very easy. The wooden wreath form has holes on the back so you can thread a wire through and then hang it by that. If you have a form that does not have holes, you could glue a hanging hook on the back before you start gluing the nuts on.

    I’m sorry, I don’t know. I would suggest googling it. Or try a floral supply store that is meant to be wholesale.
