Martha Mondays

mondaysPlease join me! Martha Mondays is a group of bloggers, Martha fans, home cooks, crafters, and people who want to cook or craft more who have joined together to cook or craft the same Martha dish or project. To get things started, I’ll choose a Martha recipe or craft (which must be from a current issue of Living or Everyday Food, The Martha Stewart Show or available on her site) and post a link (or page number in the mag if it’s not up on her site yet — if you don’t have the recipe or instructions for that week, just email me and I’ll send them to you – posting them on the web is a violation of Martha’s copyright). Everyone will then make the the dish or craft by the next Monday and post photos, comments or blog it within the following week – mine will be up on Monday every week. The idea is we will all be doing one project together and posting on the same day, so there will be a kind of solidarity in this – plus we’ll get to see how everyone’s dish or craft turned out.

Please link to this page from your blog so others can find out how to join and how it works. You can copy the logo and use that if you’d like.

Once we’re rolling, we’ll take turns choosing the craft or project. I’ll create a schedule and assign everybody a week they get to select the project. I’ll always post the current project on my blog and if you join, I’ll send you an email with the current project each week.

Right now, please leave a comment if you’re interested in joining, so I can add you to the fun.

I’ve lost a lot of weight eating Martha recipes and I think that Martha crafts have helped me discover a whole new side to life, so I look forward to having you join me so we can experience it all together!

If you want to read all the Martha Mondays posts, type “Martha Mondays” in the search box up on the top right and it will pull them all up for you to see.

Make the grilled vanilla peaches recipe https://marthaandme.wordpress.com/2009/08/06/martha-monday-810/ on (or around) Monday Aug 10, then post results on your blog, or come and leave a comment here. If you don’t have the recipe, let me know and I’ll email it to you. Check back every week for the new assignment.

    Hi Brette,

I realise that a link to my blog didn’t come up when I emailed you. I have posted about the first Martha Monday already. http://www.mylifeprusinger.blogspot.com

  19. Lyndsey says:

Here is my post about my first Martha Monday!

    http://aquasunday.blogspot.com

Where can we see the other’s blogs who posted?

  20. marthaandme says:

Hi Lyndsey. I’ll be posting mine tomorrow since I’m making it today, Monday. Others will be posting links to their blogs then. My general plan is to do the project or recipe on Monday and post it on Tuesday. Everyone is welcome to do it whenever they want though.

  21. Lyndsey says:

    Hi Brette,
Thanks, it will work out for me to do it earlier, I can always hold off and post it later. I work at a school and start back next Monday, so I can either post late on Monday or after work on Tuesdays. We’ll see how my time goes. Can’t wait to see everyone else’s.

Pru, you did a great job!

  22. marthaandme says:

Doing it early is fine too. Really guys, no hard and fast rules here. I’m just happy to be doing it with everyone.

  23. Sassy says:

OK. This is a dumb question. How do I copy the logo? I can’t seem to cut and paste it off your site.

  24. Sassy says:

Never mind. I figured it out!

  25. Nancy S says:

I don’t have a blog, so here it goes. I really enjoyed making the grilled peaches, mostly because it’s something I never would have done on my own. I found it hard to halve the peaches after peeling them, so I also had some in quarters. I discovered I didn’t have any more parchment at the last minute so it cooked right in the foil, and they were delicious. My family loved them with the ice cream, even if it melted quite a bit. I definitely will make this again. Thanks for inspiring me!

  26. marthaandme says:

Hi Guys. If you can post your results for the first assignment on the Martha Mondays Grilled Vanilla Peaches post, that would be great, so we can keep them all in one place.

  27. woisme says:

sounds fun. i cant participate every time, but I will do my best. Thank you

  28. megan says:

This sounds like a lot of fun. Count me in. I’ll try to get it done every week. Dont kick me out if I miss some, OK? 🙂 I missed the vanilla peaches but well try to catch up this week!

  29. marthaandme says:

  33. marthaandme says:

Do you want me to add you to the Martha Mondays blogroll so you can have a turn picking the project?

  34. Yes please! This sounds like lots of fun and I’ll participate as much as I can 🙂

  35. marthaandme says:

I’ll add you to the list. Thanks for joining!

  36. lucyandme says:

I’ve been sitting on the sidelines for a while and now I am jumping in. My husband and daughter suggested that I start a blog on the new recipes that I am always trying. So I did http://atleasttwiceaweek.wordpress.com/.

Brette, I have truly been inspired by what you and some of the other bloggers list on your site do. Sign me up officially for Martha Mondays. I have participated in the past but not posted and now I will definately give you my results.

    Have a great day!

  37. marthaandme says:

  43. Alene says:

I’ll give it a try too! You LOST weight on Martha’s recipes? Wow. Not me!

  44. marthaandme says:

Yes. It’s the same theory my mother has always said about eating in restaurants. If you eat someone else’s cooking all the time, you end up losing weight b/c it doesn’t always appeal to you. Also many of the recipes, particularly from Everyday Food, are quite light.

  45. Alene says:

I discontinued Everyday Food b/c I thought it got too simplistic. I may try again though.

  46. marthaandme says:

It surprises me sometimes. I can flip through it and think there isn’t a thing in it I want to make, but then I’ll sit down and force myself to choose something and I find things I really like. What I like it for the most is week nights. I often have many of the ingredients and the recipes are quick to make.

  47. Hannah says:

I would love to join! I have been searching for a Martha group for a while now. Both the Everyday Food and Martha Stewart Living are my favourite subscriptions. Also, her cookbooks are great.

  48. marthaandme says:

Hi Hannah. You’re welcome to join. I’ll add you to the blogroll and let you know when it is your turn to choose a project (the current schedule takes us into May at this point, so it will be late May probably). Glad to have you participating!
